MSU Health Care's breast oncology services were first opened as the Comprehensive Breast Health Clinic in January of 1992. In the early 2000s, the clinic became the MSU Breast Center and continued to provide comprehensive, specialized breast health care to women and men in a sensitive and personalized manner. Our providers utilize state-of-the art skills and techniques to provide a wide range of services such as genetic counseling and testing, breast cancer high-risk assessment, and breast surgery.
MSU Health Care Surgery provides patients peace of mind through our successful outcomes which are supported by our:
The Comprehesive Breast Clinic at MSU Health Care Surgery provides a weekly Multidisciplinary Breast Cancer Clinic (IDC) for women with breast cancer (newly diagnosed or recurrent). A breast cancer diagnosis often brings many fears, questions, and misconceptions.
There are different types of breast cancer that present at different stages with many treatment options available.
The goal of the Interdisciplinary Breast Cancer Clinic (IDC) is to provide women with up-to-date information that will enable them to make informed decisions regarding their treatment.
The IDC offers a team approach to help women and their families learn about breast cancer and treatment options. An education session is provided by the nurse coordinator, followed by individual assessments from a breast surgeon, radiation oncologist, medical oncologist, and medical social
worker.
Joining the providers during the team discussion is a pathologist and radiologist who review all the available information. The IDC team of breast cancer specialists provides individualized recommendations for treatment. A written plan is provided to the woman and her family.

We are proud to have Senan Abdul-Hamed, MD, plastic and reconstructive surgeon, and physician assistant, Rachel Walther, MPAS, PA-C,, as part of a team that provides a multidisciplinary approach to the treatment of breast cancer.
