MSU Health Care Colorectal Surgery provides patients with access to complete colorectal care within the university setting. Patients will experience personalized care from screening through treatment of their colorectal diagnoses. The alliance between MSU Health Care, Karmanos Cancer Institute, and McLaren Greater Lansing continues to strengthen and offers expanding support of colon and rectal cancer care for the Lansing community. As faculty providers of the Department of Osteopathic Surgical Services in College of Osteopathic Medicine at Michigan State University, we are involved in colon cancer research with the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics in College of Natural Science. A partnership between research and clinical care will facilitate state-of-the-art care for colorectal cancer patients.
Practice Philosophy
Jacquelyn Charbel, DO, FACOS, FACS is an assistant professor of osteopathic surgical specialties in Michigan State University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine. She received her doctorate of osteopathic medicine from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pennsylvania. She completed her residency in general surgery at Henry Ford Health System – Macomb Campus in Clinton, Michigan. Dr. Charbel became fellowship-trained in minimally invasive colon and rectal surgery from Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. Further, Dr. Chabel is board-certified in general surgery from the American Board of Osteopathic Surgery with over 8 years of experience treating patients in Michigan.
