Roger Jansen, PhD
Roger Jansen is the MSU Health Care Chief Innovation and Digital Health Officer. Roger is an award-winning, senior healthcare executive who leads strategic initiatives, authors new products and solutions and steers large-scale change and innovation efforts at MSU Health Care and throughout his career. Roger fosters high-performing teams and culture alongside his demonstrated ability to implement innovative approaches to increase access to care while reducing costs.
Roger conceptualized and led a remote patient monitoring collaboration to improve chronic disease outcomes. This strategic program addresses a community health need, streamlined patient access to care to create an opportunity for greater health equity for Michigan residents. The remote patient monitoring program provides rural and underserved populations with smart medical devices such as blood pressure cuffs and glucometers, in addition to a dedicated care manager, facilitating access to care from home.
In addition to his innovative remote monitoring initiative, Roger played a pivotal role in creating a new Medicare Advantage product between Health Alliance Plan, the insurance company of Henry Ford Health and MSU Health Care. The Medicare Advantage plan was one of the first outcomes of the historic 30-year partnership between Henry Ford Health and Michigan State University. The plan’s entry into the mid-Michigan market in 2022 was one of HAP’s most-successful entries into a market in its history.
Roger Jansen has deep roots within the healthcare industry. Roger is a clinically trained neuropsychologist with a PhD from the University of Illinois at Chicago with experience treating individuals with traumatic brain injury. Prior to joining MSU Health Care, he served as a Chief Strategy Officer for a $9B+ West Michigan healthcare system. He was recognized as a top United States Chief Human Resources Officer for the redesign and refocusing of the organization's Human Resources.
Roger is driving innovation in health care. He is a connector of public and private entities with the capability to reimagine care delivery. A prolific speaker, his dynamic vision for the eradication of inequitable access and the extinction of high-cost health care through novel models of care is a feature of interviews, podcasts, and national conferences.
